There is no single "best" — there is a best fit for how you work. This is a comparison of the options an Egyptian finishing engineer or contractor actually faces, from Excel sheets to enterprise ERPs. Full disclosure up front: we build Muamer — so we'll also tell you plainly when Muamer is not the right choice.

Excel — the natural starting point
On one project, with regular laptop time, a well-organized sheet genuinely suffices. It breaks down when invoices pile up as paper in your pocket, projects multiply, and the client asks questions while you're standing on-site. Free, flexible, and the tool everyone already knows — start here, leave when it starts costing you evenings.
Muamer — full disclosure: that's us
Muamer (Arabic: مُعَمِّر) is built specifically for the finishing engineer who works on-site: log client payments and materials/labor expenses with photo receipts from the site, get spending split by specialty line (plumbing, electrical, painting…), see profit as the project runs — and give your client a read-only portal where they follow their own project instead of calling you. Native mobile app, fully Arabic (Egyptian dialect), free 30-day trial with the full product and no card.
When Muamer is NOT for you: it has no BOQ / quantity-surveying module and no interim payment certificates — if your work runs on those documents, look at Eng Assist or the ERPs. It's not built for investor-share structures (that's Tashtip's home turf), and a large company with warehouses and a document cycle will outgrow it. It also requires an internet connection (normal mobile data is enough).
Eng Assist — the widest toolbox
An Arabic platform packing a very large number of engineering tools into one system — BOQs linked to interim certificates, quantity takeoff, quality control, GPS attendance, branded reports — and stating it serves everyone from solo engineer to enterprise across 22 Arab countries. It runs as a browser PWA (not distributed through the App Store or Google Play), the free trial is 3 days, and published pricing starts at EGP 2,500/year for individuals. Fits: work that runs on formal engineering documents and wants many tools in one place. If you mainly need money clarity and client trust, the breadth will be more than you need.
Tashtip — finishing companies and property flippers
An Egyptian platform built for finishing companies whose work involves investors: investor shares, profit settlements on sale, automatic company-percentage accounting, and portals for clients and investors. Browser-based PWA; published Pro pricing is EGP 299/month. Fits: a finishing/flipping company with investors — exactly its case. A solo engineer working directly for clients won't need the investor logic.
Daftra — full general accounting
A large, mature Arabic cloud accounting system — invoicing, inventory, payroll, reporting — with a dedicated contracting solution. Published pricing is in USD, from about $20/month. Fits: a company that wants one full accounting system for everything and has someone to run it. Far more than a phone-based engineer needs.
DEXEF and AccFlex — the enterprise systems
Both are established Egyptian systems for contracting companies: full document cycles, contracts, cost allocation, and integration with the rest of the company — interim payment certificates are named at AccFlex. Pricing is quote-based (DEXEF offers a 30-day money-back guarantee). Fits: a large contracting company with a finance department — not the engineer standing on-site.

Why write a comparison that includes our competitors?
Because the engineer who picks the right tool for their work wins — and transparency is literally what we sell. If Muamer isn't your fit today, we'd rather you remember us when your work matches what Muamer is built for than try it and be disappointed.
